Island Health’s Plan Assisters help patients navigate the health-insurance exchange and can assist you with finding plans that fit your needs and budget. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires that all people 18 and older (who pay taxes) have insurance. You can sign up for coverage annually, starting November 1. If you qualify for Apple Health (Medicaid) coverage you can sign up at any time.

We understand how complex and confusing Medicare can be. There are many different types of Medicare insurance options available, including Medicare Advantage, Medigap (Medicare Supplement), and Prescription Drug plans. Dozens of insurance companies offer Medicare coverage options, and furthermore many healthcare providers do not typically accept all Medicare plans.

Medicare Insurance Helpline

In partnership with MedicareCompareUSA, Island Health is pleased to offer the Medicare Insurance Helpline – a free resource for comparing and enrolling in Medicare plans accepted by Island Health providers. The Medicare Insurance Helpline can connect you with professional and highly trained agents to help you every step of the way.

The Medicare Insurance Helpline is serviced by MedicareCompareUSA, an independent insurance agency representing Medicare plans accepted by Island Health. MedicareCompareUSA affiliated agents are extensively trained to assist patients with Medicare plan comparisons as well as helping patients match plans to their specific needs, preferences, and budget.
